Why the Pikes Peak Downhill Bike Tour?
There are a lot of ways to experience Pikes Peak — but none of them compare to descending it on two wheels. At 14,115 feet, Pikes Peak is the highest summit in the Southern Rockies and one of the most visited mountains in the world. Our guided downhill bike tour starts near the summit and follows the famous Pikes Peak Highway down through 11 miles of switchbacks, alpine tundra, treeline forest, and sweeping canyon views. The descent drops over 6,000 vertical feet — all of it guided, all of it breathtaking, and all of it done at a safe, steady pace so you can soak in every view.
What to Expect on Your Pikes Peak Bike Tour
Your tour begins at the Pikes Peak Adventure Center in Old Colorado City. Your guide drives the group to the start point on the Pikes Peak Highway, where you'll suit up in helmets, gloves, and safety gear before mounting your Trek mountain bike. The descent covers approximately 11 miles of highway riding with regular stops at the best viewpoints — Glen Cove, Crystal Creek Reservoir, and the dramatic switchbacks above treeline. Your guide shares the history of America's most famous mountain along the way, including its role in inspiring "America the Beautiful." Total tour time is approximately 3.5–4 hours including transport.
