This 5.5-hour adventure combines two of Colorado's most iconic experiences into one unforgettable day: a ride aboard the historic Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway to the 14,115-foot summit, followed by a 19.5-mile guided bike descent down the entire Pikes Peak Highway. The cog railway — one of the highest in the world — has been carrying passengers to the summit since 1891. You'll arrive at the top having barely broken a sweat, with plenty of energy for the ride of your life back down.
What to Expect on the Cog Up / Bike Down Tour
The tour begins at the Pikes Peak Adventure Center where you'll be fitted with your Trek mountain bike and gear. The group then drives to the Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway depot in Manitou Springs for the scenic 9-mile rail journey to the summit. At the top — above the clouds, above the treeline, above everything — your guide gives a summit briefing before the group begins the 19.5-mile descent down the Pikes Peak Highway. The full descent takes approximately 2.5 hours with stops, covering alpine tundra, dramatic switchbacks, dense forest, and finally the lower canyon sections as you approach Colorado Springs. Total tour time is 5.5 hours.
